Overview
Chitwan National Park (UNESCO since 1984) protects one of the last expanses of lowland forest and grassland at the Himalayan foothills. It is a stronghold for the greater one-horned rhinoceros and Bengal tiger, plus gharial, deer, sloth bear, and hundreds of birds. Jeep safaris, guided walks, and Rapti River canoe trips offer different perspectives — always with certified naturalists and park rules in mind.
